KARACHI: The Askari Park reopened here on Tuesday, six months after a ride at the park had fallen apart.

A minor girl was killed in the accident which took place in July 2018 when a ride named ‘Monster’ had fallen apart at the Askari Park located in the Old Sabzi Mandi area of Karachi.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Askari Park Brigadier (retd) Shahzad told reporters the park had been reopened after a change in management.

“This park is under new management. We have tried to adopt all international standards which are followed so such an accident does not happen again,” said Shahzad.

Several families turned up to the park on its reopening and were seen enjoying the rides.

“This is the first day of the park opening. Hopefully, more people come in the future,” said a visitor.

A report by the investigation committee which was formed to probe the accident had revealed that substandard.
