MQM-P worker killed, another injured in Karachi shooting | Pakistan

KARACHI: An activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) was killed and another was injured in a shooting in Karachi late Monday, party leaders said.

Speaking to media at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in Karachi, Minister for Information Technology Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said the incident took place at the office of party members Khawaja Izharul Hasan and Usama Qadri. He said a worker was martyred and another was wounded in the attack.

Siddiqui, who is convener of the MQM-P, said the government had failed to ensure safety of his party’s workers.

“The government will have to take serious measures,” he said, calling on the authorities to arrest the perpetrators within 48 hours.

Meanwhile, Hasan also arrived at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital along with Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhter and MQM-P leader Amir Khan.

He said nearly 4-5 unknown armed men barged into Union Council-6 office in North Karachi area and opened fire there.
