SC to listen to overview petition on Sharif-owned sugar mills on Monday | Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court docket on Saturday fastened February 25 because the date for the listening to of a overview petition on Sharif family-owned sugar mills.

A brand new bench of the highest court docket has been shaped to listen to the overview petition. A 3-judge bench comprising Justice Azmat Saeed, Justice Amir Ata Bandial and Justice Qazi Faez Isa will hear the petition on Monday.

The Sharif household had moved the Supreme Court towards the Lahore Excessive Court docket’s (LHC) September 2017 resolution ordering the shifting of their sugar mills out of South Punjab.

In September 2017, the LHC had ordered the mills, owned by members of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his brother Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s household, to maneuver out of South Punjab. 

The bench, headed by LHC Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, ordered that the Ittefaq, Haseeb Waqas and Chaudhry sugar mills be moved again inside three months.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Jahangir Tareen, a South Punjab-based businessman, had taken the Sharifs to LHC over the unlawful shifting of their sugar mills to South Punjab regardless of a ban.
