ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court docket of Pakistan on Tuesday started listening to a petition filed by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif towards a verdict by the Islamabad Excessive Court docket dismissing his bail software within the Al-Azizia corruption reference.
A 3-member bench headed by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and comprising Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Yahya Afridi is listening to the petition.
The Islamabad Excessive Court docket on February 25 had dismissed Nawaz’s petition in search of bail and suspension of his seven-year sentence within the Al-Azizia reference on medical grounds.
The previous premier has been imprisoned at Kot Lakhpat jail since December 2018 following his conviction in a corruption reference in step with the Supreme Court docket’s July 2017 verdict.
